Hi guys, today I’m going to talk about a special
celebration.
In January of 2017, I celebrated Chinese New Year in
Singapore. I was staying with my best friend’s family so we prepared by going
to Chinatown and bought a lot of decorations for the house, like Rooster posters and some fake flowers to decorate the entrance of the house. That year was the
year of the Rooster, so the streets were full of chickens and Roosters
decorations. I remember turning in one street and seeing a giant Rooster balloon
and people doing like a presentation, it was really colorful and beautiful.
At lunch we ate a traditional Chinese meal. The “Yuu Sahng”.
It is considered as a symbol of abundance. The food consist of strips of salmon
and a lot of vegetables that are mixed with a lot of sauces and condiments. You
put them in a big plate and mix it with your chopsticks, take a little of the
mixed food and rise saying a phrase in Chinese that I don’t remember and then
you eat it. I didn’t et that much because the food looked like plastic with all
the neon colors.
I really enjoyed this New Year’s celebration because I found
it really different from here, actually New year is my least favorite holiday
of Chile.
